“Big Dan”

Our company’s namesake, First Harvest Hemp, carries much pride and meaning which extends to our strong image as well. Before becoming the first farmer in Massachusetts to harvest industrial hemp, Owner Kevin McGovern grew up and worked on a third-generation dairy farm.

In the spring of 2009, a giant Holstein bull calf was born on the farm weighing 120 lbs at birth! The decision was made to raise the bull and name him in memory of a beloved family member. “Big Dan” was raised within the dairy herd and grew to be an impressive 2,485 lbs! Our image, a free-hand sketch of Big Dan, displays Pride and Strength, just a few of the many flagship qualities our company represents.
